I fell in love with JK Rowling''s Harry Potter
books in college. The first in the serious, Harry Potter and the Sorcorer''s Stone, was one of the assigned readings in my
fantasy literature class. After that I was hooked, so much to the point that I even did an independant study on all of the installments that were released at the time; the first four books and the first movie. Poor Harry always seems to get a bad hand in life. It begins soon after he''s born w/ his parents being murdered, and he managing to deflect the killer, Lord Voldemort. In doing so, he takes away Voldemort''s powers and makes himself famous. However, from that
time on he is doomed never to be a normal child. He is sent to live an unmagical, and unhappy existence w/ his aunt, uncle and cousin until he is eleven years old. At that time he is of age to be accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Only then does he find out the truth about himself and his parents, and of their demise. Thus begins Harry''s awakening to who and what he truely is. He is a wizard, and will become a
great one through attending Hogwarts school. Unfortunately for Harry however, not only is he famous among the wizarding community, but he also has a
life long enemy through no fault of his own. Voldemort did not die that fateful night. He is still alive, building up his strength so that one
day he may return. And in doing so, take his revenge upon Harry. Luckily Harry does manage to make a couple of really good friends at Hogwarts; Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. They are always there to help him save the day. Not to mention the headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, and the grounds keeper, Reubeus Hagrid both have an great affection for Harry as well. Professor McGonagall, Harry''s teacher and head of house, is also a kindred spirit to him. Harry''s life will never be a normal one, but every day is an adventure!!
