Confucius Ne Kahaa (Analects of Confucius)

Book Abstract by: VijaiKSharma

Original Author: Hindi translation by Sanjeev Misra, along with its English text by James Legge & Chinese text
Considered as one of the wisest philosophers, Confucius is well known. Although he existed about 2500 years ago, his thoughts
are equally relevant today. He laid stress on ethical values, discipline and order in life, as the primary necessities. Lun-yu or The Analects, is the main work of his life and teachings. The original book had twenty Chapters, containing 499 anecdotes. There are practical examples.  It aims to teach, as to how to lead a good and just life, as a regular person in a routine manner. For true development, there should be harmony and balance in personal and social life.  The Hindi translator has consulted several English translations of the original Chinese text and commentaries on the book, so as to keep the Hindi translation, as true as possible to the original Chinese. The abstract writer would like to reproduce extracts from a few of the anecdotes in English as below:
--- The wise are free from perplexities; the virtuous from anxiety; & the bold from fear.
- --For one word, a man is often deemed to be wise and for one word, he is often deemed to be foolish. We ought to be careful indeed in what we say.
---The superior man…….Looked at from a distance he appears stern; when approached he is mild; when he is heard to speak, his language is firm and decided.
--- He who speaks without modesty will find it difficult to make his words good.
Besides the basic text in three languages, this book contains Publishers note in Hindi, English and Chinese languages, Contents and Preface (in Hindi and English).  The book is considered useful for everyone, for study, learning and our development and improvement.
