Best Stories From the Indian Classics

Book Review by: ashishdimri

Original Author: VS Naravane
Panchatantra,  Kadambari  and Kathasaritsagar       are   well known  ancient  classics.  These have been appreciated by
scholars  across the nations.  Panchatantra  by Vishnu  sharman explains  basics  of diplomacy, Kadambari    by Banabhatt also  talks about ethics and  Kathasaritsagar  by Somadev   also  gives  us  lessons  in  morality.
One can safely say, these  oriental  classics  can  easily  take on  Greek classics.
These  classics  are  read  by young  and  old  and  have found relevance in  many management  case studies  where  students  learn a.b,c  of  pragmatic  behaviour!
VS  Naravane,  a  renowned  scholar of english  literature,   indology  and   philosophy has translated  these  great  texts  into  english. The way,he uses  metaphors, similes  to describe  certain events  ,shows his intellectual  depth.
Panchatantra  is  renowned  for  its  imagery. It has  number  of  animal  characters who  teach  lessons  in  tact  and  day  to day  dealings.
Kadambiri  is  a  long but engrossing  story which  never  leaves you for    a  while. Katha sarit sagar   is  a  group of stories  which  narrates  essence  of    truth, dignity  and   humility.
These  stories  take  you  on  a  long  odyssey  and  make  you realise  power of simple  living but higher thinking!
