Today’s Media: Reliable Enough?

Book Review   by:Divs21     Original Author: Self

Ever thought of change in the scenario of media in India. These days media persons are more busy in inquiring about Ash’s new Hollywood venture and Mallika’s new cloths. They are forgetting the quality news and they are following the path of sensational news. They used to sensationalize a news topic so much that people are bound to buy that news. They are more interested in how much a bar girl is earning rather than focusing on the poor condition of those people who are suffering at some place in India. Every calamity leads to political issues, political quarrels between the ministers and media channels used to show this uncountable time on their channels. Some topics do need some attention for nation’s welfare but those topics are of less importance these days for media people. Media people have also started interfering in the personal lives of the people. Celebrities are badly hurt by this attitude of media. They are right when they say that it is possible that media people will plant a camera in their bathroom so that they can see what celebrities are doing inside! One doesn’t know when and where they will be followed by the media. They are like ghosts, invisible and can come in front of you anytime, anywhere. Very few people are left in media who take good care of their profession and respect it by giving good services.
They present an issue keeping the sentiments of people in mind. Logically they used to handle sensational news by not making an issue out of it. There is a stiff competition between media channels these days. They want to flash the news as soon as possible without really knowing the details. Then proudly they used to announce that their channel is first to inform the viewers about the news. At the same time if viewers swipe to another channel they will get a completely changed picture of the news. There will always be a variation in the number of the people who had suffered in an incident. Competition is everywhere but one should not be casual towards the approach. People listen to the news to get a true picture about the incident and not to hear bogus stuff and unreliable information. Media people can improve their image by giving crystal clear image of the news and present it as it is, without making it sensational.
