Maximize Destiny

Original Author: Dr David O Oyedepo

The book a must read for persons who truly desire to maximize their destinies. It is more than a motivational book, because it will put in your hands the keys and practical steps as to how you can maximize your destiny.  It  is a 220 page book of twelve chapters based on clear biblical principles but proved to be real over and again by the author whom God has enabled and used amongst other things, to build the largest place of worship, an architectural masterpiece, a  50,000 capacity auditorium as it appeared in the World Guinness book of records. It’s foolproof. No man can give what he does not have.

No matter your field of endeavour God has a plan for you.  When the purpose of a thing is not known, abuse is inevitable. God created every man for a purpose. And His plans for every man are good with no evil. (Jer29:11). No man is a biological accident. It is our arc enemy the devil that has misused and abused mankind in making man to fulfil his own selfish purpose of stealing, killings and destruction of lives and other evil vices, (John10:10) .

Maximizing destiny is a function of your personality. Your true personality is revealed in your attitude. And the altitude you attain in life is a function of your attitude. Attitude has twelve main building blocks including decision, courage, discipline, determination, integrity, focus, compassion, selectivity, sensitivity, joyfulness, meekness and gratefulness.

INSGHT IS ESSENTIAL

Knowledge is what determines the degree of impact anybody makes. Daniel 11:32.  That is, impact is a product of insight. You are not unlucky, or disadvantaged but probably suffering from a case of ignorance. There is no mountain anywhere but everyman’s ignorance is his mountain. God said my people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6. You are not a failure until you look for somebody to blame for it. The presence of Jesus in a man’s life does not translate to an automatic success. Many believers today are still frustrated because they have not had an encounter or responded positively to the word of God. Luke5:1-10. The Word terminates frustration, stagnation and humiliation. At the root of every revolution is revelation and the basis of every transformation is information. Height in life is birthed by insight. Hunt for insight and you will not be hurt in life.

 THE PLACE OF THE MIND

We live in a thinkers’ world. Thinkers rule the world. The positive use of your brain will determine your gains. Until you use your mind no one will mind you.  Success does not demand prayer and fasting as much as engaging your mind positively.

When a man is mentally grounded, he automatically loses his value and worth just as a mad man can never be employed in any organization or be allowed hold any position of responsibility. Many physically challenged people, the cripple, the blind still accomplish great feats in life, but this is not so for a mad man or mentally crippled individuals. The mind is the factor that makes you relevant to the world.

Scripturally, two types of mind are recognized-the carnal mind and the spiritual mind.  Romans8:5-7. The carnal mind is a reprobate mind doing silly things. Rom1:28. Learning, knowledge acquisition, processing of acquired knowledge, and reasoning are very great assets you need to be able to productively engage your mind.

DEVELOPING THE MIND:

(i) Research is one important way to developing one’s mind. Research is engaging oneself in a fact-finding study.  Potential leaders are readers. (ii) Meditation: This is giving mental focus to issues of interest, with the aim of enlightenment and illumination, Ecclesiastes1:13-17. Separate yourself and give you self enough time to meditate. No idling. The difference between a success and a failure is in the investment of their time. (iii) Impartation: Your mind can be developed via divine impartation, Deuteronomy34:9, 2Timothy1:6-7 (iv) Wise Association: Proverbs13:20. The association you keep will either make or mar you. Walk with wise people and you will be wise. (v)  Engage the services of consultants or counsellors who will help develop your senses and enlarge you understanding of the subject matter.

OBSTACLES TO A LIFE OF IMPACT:

(i) Sin:  Sin is mind’s poison, Ezekiel 18:4. When you habitually live in sin you are destroying your mental capacity. Every man of integrity naturally enjoys mental dignity. (ii) Accepting the status quo:   The moment you stop pushing you start crashing, Proverbs4:18. God has a place for you at the top. Just see what lies ahead of you and take steps toward getting there. One tonic that motivates the brain to work is seeing something ahead of you. Don’t give in to fate but to faith. God has a better place for you. (Iii) Trap of past failures: This is another trap to mental excellence generated from mental torture by dwelling on the irreparable past. This makes you not to be able to think and see anything ahead anymore. If you stay glued to your negative past, your great future will lose its colour. You can’t correct your past, Isaiah43:18-19, philipians3:13-14. Leave the past alone and go forward, Proverbs24:16, micah7:8. (iv) Pride of past achievements: What appears standard today will soon become substandard tomorrow. So keep moving.
