A Century of Spells

Book Review   by:CatherineGallagher     Original Author: Draja Mickharic
ª

This is a textbook (or better, the author says, a workbook) in the practice of natural magic. There is a strong emphasis on spiritual development as a prerequisite for power and dominion over the natural world, so that one's desires may be fulfilled. The author obviously takes the path of WHITE MAGIC,or that which does no harm and only good for self and others. There are spells or techniques for protection, reversing curses (if any actually exist, although most convictions of being cursed are the result of delusions or mistakes), spells using water, incense, oils, herbs, spells of obeah and wanga, spoken spells, written spells, and miscellaneous others. Following this is a very valuable reading list, and finally an index.

One of the most valuable aspects of this book, from a magical standpoint, is its cautious and careful approach to the subject and its emphasis on spiritual development, although it but hints at the disciplines necessary to become a true adept.
