The non fiction book holds a promising read for people feeling
trapped by the monotony created by sudden, incessant pouring of
run-of-the-mill fictions. All the chapters open up with something unique
and interesting, thus getting the readers hooked up in the very first
place itself. The book offers a list of questions which helps readers to
determine the need of the book in their life.
The
book opens up with the chapter ‘Talent,’ a subject which, though widely
talked about, hardly finds a mention anywhere else. The chapter
delicately brings out the fine nuances involved with talent and answers
with relative ease, utilizing examples, the age old question: “Is talent
discovered or developed?” It also tries to subtly bring out the
distinction between talent and success, and finally gives you the
pointers to recognize your talent.
The book moves ahead
with the delightful addition of chapters: Attitude, Goal Setting,
Motivation, Idea, Success, Happiness and Steps to Happiness.
The
book also talks about ‘Attitude’ and clearly shows how our attitude
differs from others. The chapter ends up by telling the ways to develop a
positive attitude.
In the ‘Goal Setting’ chapter the
author deals with all the aspects of goal setting, right from the
inception of a goal to its achievement. All the stages involved therein
are tackled in a much sophisticated manner.
The
motivation chapter clearly shows how having a purpose in life is
different from having a goal, and how we all can motivate ourselves,
though differently.
The lengthiest chapter ‘Success’
makes an interesting read. Among others, it talks of role of luck in
success and the parameters of success, besides discussing about the
ingredients of success.
The ‘Idea’ chapter clearly
makes a healthy, refreshing cut. It talks about the availability of
ideas and answers the most prominent question: “Does ideas click only to
the few?” It also shows the ways to capture ideas.
The
chapter on ‘Happiness’ opens up with a beautiful story and goes on
answering: “Is happiness illusive?” And, why do we fail to recognize
happiness and whether happiness is directly proportional to our
earnings? The last chapter talks of the steps to happiness.
Talking
of other pluses, the title and the cover compliments each other; the
flow of the topics and sub-topics comes out naturally. The book leaves
the readers satisfied, with all of their queries answered as soon as
they are aroused.
Overall, a good, intriguing self help/ personal growth book by Anchit Barnwal.
