The world would be incomplete and
inefficient if there were no books. Books are the biggest asset of a learned
man. They are his guide through the years of education and a companion while
reading any kind of novel. A person’s close friend is also a book.
When a child is growing, his
biggest teacher is of course his family. As he or she grows, the child goes to
school to gather education. They teach the child basics of all types of
curriculum’, essential for the mental and physical upbringing of the child.
With time, the books become tougher and bigger in size. At the college level,
one has to specialize in some stream. Likewise, the books are available for
different streams.
As a child, parents often try to
develop a good reading habit among their kids. This may or may not become the
child’s habit. If one does start enjoying reading, it becomes a source of
learning along with the fun of the content of the book. They say, ‘Books are
ones best friends’. They never leave a person as long as he lives, because one
becomes addicted to them soon.
Books are of various genres. They
include Drama, Romance, Suspense and Thrillers, Comedy, Animated, Murder
mysteries, Fiction, Biographies and Autobiographies, Horror, Factual, Sci-fi,
etc. Every individual has a separate liking. They not only entertain the reader
but increase the knowledge of the being also. To name a few books as a child I
read Enid Blyton, Mills & Boons. Some famous writers are Sydney Shelton,
Barbara Taylor Bradford, Agatha Cristi, Chetan Bhagat, Khushwant Singh and many
more.
I have always cherished reading
books and whenever I get an opportunity I read. They are truly a person’s
friend and hence ‘A Treasure’. One must preserve them with care and love. In
the market, second hand books are readily available and so are fresh ones in
bookstores.
