In this concise, quick read,
Rui Zhi Dong offers a overview of the principles necessary to truly learn one of the most notoriously "difficult" languages-Chinese. In a conversational tone, the author briefly covers some of the areas that are most difficult for students-pronunciation and characters. The book ends with a general overview of principles that will help the language learner more efficiently (applicable to any foreign language study.). It is available for immediate purchase on Amazon Kindle for $2.99
Pros-(Information & Cost)The book is written in highly accessible language that puts the reader at ease with learning Chinese. It actually focuses on learning the language, rather than learning something from the language (such as phrases or greetings). The last section (my favorite) points out issues that are often encountered by students as they learn a language. The price is inexpensive, compared to other books that provide less helpful information.
Cons: (Length & Digital Format) The book is designed as a brief guide or overview; however more material could have been added (such as examples) to further illustrate the point. The format (Kindle) is good, but may not be practical if you need to be the book away from the computer.
Highly recommended for student who are already or will be studying the Chinese language (Mandarin) on their own or in a group as a supplement to their studies
