This is a book which consists almost entirely of short selections for
sight singing practice. There are literally hundreds
of
songs given. There are basic melodies, and a section of themes and variations. There is a section of duets, which the authors mention can be sung simultaneously by two different voices, or can be used by one person alone, using the instrumental accompaniment in lieu of another voice. There is also a section designed to teach improvisation, and a supplemental section of songs for additional practice. All sections progress from simple to more complex
sight singing exercises. At the end are two appendices, one defining various musical terms and another one defining the various signs and markings used in Western musical scores (vocal ones in particular).
