Global Economy and Influence
They say,’ It is a very small world’. True to the fullest. So is the earth. Cultural imperialism is a term that may be needed to be understood here. Globalisation has changed the face of industries, today. America is the super power of the world. It dominates the international markets, their products and startegies. People’s lifestyles, food habits and values systems have also undergone change, everywhere. MNC’s is a word that has become a
trend of the world econonies. This bought the concept of mergers and acquisitions. People,
especially Indians, who are intelligent and dynamic, have been making a name and a place for themselves in the global
market. Indian dressing culture has been fully influenced by western style, especially in the fashion and daily lives (wearing jeans). It is a comfortable dress code for professionals. Cultural value system too has been changing through times due to the globalisation.
The recognition that "economic growth and opportunity are in the international market place rather than the
domestic market" one has lead many companies to "do business with a worldwide focus rather than with a domestic viewpoint".'' This trend is obviously triggering changes in university curricula although engineering programs do not seem to react with the drive that one would expect. I intend to get an exposure to the complex forces involved in the design and production of products for foreign and/or global markets. The course would help me learn and examine how different countries organize, staff and operate their executive management systems. The need of global
comparison supercedes the need of domestic market comparison.
Peace and prosperity around the world depend on increasing the capacity of people to think and work on a global and intercultural basis. As technology
opens borders, educational and professional exchange opens minds.
