Cucumber has numerous beneficial points to be considered as a health fruit. Cucumber is a common name for a trailing or climbing annual herb of the gourd family. It is native to Asia and is widely cultivated in North America and Europe for the immature fruit, which resembles a long, green cylinder. The fruit is picked at various stages of development and is usually eaten raw or pickled. Small cucumbers, picked when they are 5 to 8 cm (2 to 3 in) long, are known as gherkins. Different varieties of cucumbers vary in length from about 10 to 76 cm (about 4 to 30 in).
 
1.       Cucumber is considered to be a folk medicine and is widely used in reducing heat and is helpful in inflammation.
 
2.       It can be eaten raw, pickled or used in cooking. It is a very popular fruit among women as it is considered to be helpful in treating tired eyes.
 
3.       It is highly used to heal a range of illnesses like lung, stomach, gout, arthritis, tapeworm, skin and chest problems.
 
4.       Fresh cucumber juice is taken to reduce heartburn and works as an anti-acid to soothing effect. It is very useful for people suffering from gastritis or ulcers.
 
5.       It’s slice is placed over closed eyes as it releases the toxins and soothes the tired eyes and also relaxes and reduces the swelling.
 
6.       Cucumber juice when taken regularly provides relief in eczema arthritis and gout cases.
 
7.       Cucumber pickle is taken by some. But it should be avoided as it causes sickness as it loses its vitamins and pickled cucumber contains high sodium content and may cause sickness.
 
8.       More than 90% of cucumber is water and it is an instant source of cooling during summers when taken raw as a salad.
 
9.       If the cucumber is allowed to mature, the fruit bulges in the middle, changes in color from green to yellow, and is not fit to eat.
