Considered to be as old as the civilization exist,
prostitution has been stereotyped and outcast by the society. However, Paulo Coelho had made a heroin out of them. Eleven
minutes is a story about
sex and love. The topic itself was derived out of sex. In fact eleven minutes is usually the duration one can enjoy this activity of love.
The question in this story is that will a prostitute find its true love. For getting paid to satisfy others, will they go beyond the materialistic value of
life and possibly grasp that the most important things are those which do not physically exist? These are some few questions the readers will try to solve in the book.
The book also tells about one’s journey in life. It is about a promise for a better living but ending up in the most
miserable circumstance of life. It mirrors everyone’s life in different ways. Perhaps, the good thing about the book is that it teaches one how to cope with the things that would come in life, whether miserable or something worthwhile. Though a prostitute, the heroin would teach readers how he can make his life worth living even at the most degrading position one will be.
The genius of Paulo Coelho has once again being shown in this novel. There are some excerpts of the novel that is reminiscent from Coelho’s. Nevertheless, he has successfully employed his formula of dreams and life’s journey.
This book is good for all people in different walks of life. However, with some
erotic passages in the book, it is good only for those who are in the ripe age to distinguish what is erotically literary from literarily erotic.
The book is also mentioning about some esoteric things. However, Coelho put it in words that can be understood. Perhaps, the best thing about reading Paulo Coelho’s book is that Coelho tries to simplify things out of complexities.
