The Other Boleyn Girl

Book Review by: jdance7

Original Author: Philippa Gregory
Henry the VIII was a powerful king. He was the boy king and everyone loved him. His first wife was the widow of his older
brother, Catherine of Aragon. She was quite a bit older than him, and only brought one living daughter to the throne. Henry was obsessed about getting a son, and soon lost interest in his wife when the Boleyns came to the Kingdom. He means Mary Boleyn and her sister Anne. Mary's family forces her onto the king to be his mistress. She is not happy with this to begin with, but soon falls in love with him and brings him a daughter and then a son. But while she is pregnant with his son, Henry falls in love with her sister Anne. She drives him crazy in love, and he puts the whole country through his love spell. He wants to divorce Catherine, and the only way to do that is separate himself from the Catholic Church. This book has many twists and turns and you are never fully satisfied with the outcome. It is the best historical fiction account, in my opinion, written on this fine period in history
