Letters to Luke

Book Review by: Dr_Tami_Brady

Original Author: Joe E. Holoubek, MD
Christian faith set in a novel format for a new generation of believers. As the title suggests, Letters to Luke is composed
of letters to Luke, of Antioch. The fictitious composer if these letters is a physician by the name of Joseph. Joseph and his wife Elisa have dedicated their lives to healing the sick and infirm as best they can. Both are firm believers of traditional Judaism, however, they eventually modify these beliefs to include the word of Christ. This process takes place very gradually as the couple sees, hears about, and eventually meets a man who has been healing those individuals that Joseph and Elisa have been unable to help. Letters to Luke both stays true to the Bible and presents a realistic story. Joseph is wary of Jesus at first but he can’t help but feel some sort of power from the man. The physician’s respect of Christ’s actions and attitudes gradually turns into love and devotion. The book ends with the aftermath of Jesus’ crucifixion, for Joseph and his wife as well as the reaction of the community.
