The “The Prince of Egypt” is a very interesting
book and brought color to the history of “Exodus.” The book focuses to Moses when he has taken the first step on the way that will lead to the deliberation of his
people. And put himself at the service of the lowly becomes without knowing it, a follower of Christ. There are good parts in the book that I considered unforgettable and touch one’s heart. First, when Jochebed, seeing her fellow Hebrew mothers'' baby sons being taken away from them, builds a basket for her own son and sets it afloat on the Nile to be taken care of by fate. Her firstborn daughter, Miriam, follows the basket and witnesses her baby brother being taken in by the Queen of Egypt and named Moses. This
scene shows love, love of a
mother that no matter how dangerous is the situation; she will never hesitate to risk her own life to save her child. Her action is the manifestation of a mother’s love. It is the rebellion of a conscience that refuses to obey an inhuman law. It is the act of a mother who anticipates the wonderful future that God opens to a newly-born infant, knowing also that children are the future of her people. I admire a mother who loves their son and willing to sacrifice their lives for the sake of the child. Next, is the Burning Bush, there was scene there when the Angel of Yahweh appeared to Moses by means of a flame of fire in the middle of a bush. Moses saw that although the bush was in fire it did not burn up. And God spoke to Moses and given him his mission, to bring Israel to the Land flowing with milk and honey, the land promised to Abraham. Someday, Israel, poor but free, will arrive with Moses at the Mount to meet God and receive his life-giving words. At first Moses was refuse to follow what God has ordered him but because of God’s assurance “I will be with you” to Moses and to God’s
chosen people he then goes on to his mission. In this scene I’ve realized that God always have plan for us on His own way if only we entrust our lives and strengthen our
faith to Him, like Moses, he is the chosen one to save the Israelites from slavery. His faith to God remains until the end. Last, the plagues of Egypt. In the movie there were scenes there show the happening of 7 plagues in Egypt where the power of God’s revealed and seen by Moses and to God’s Chosen people. And one of the breathtaking scene is the Passover, where God spoke to Moses and Aaron to tell their fellow Israelites to paint the blood of lamb on the doorposts and the top of the doorframe: from then no one will go out of the door of the house before morning because Yahweh will pass through to strike Egypt and when he sees the blood of the lintel and the doorpost he will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to enter your houses and kill. It is the sacrifice of the Passover for Yahweh. The blood of the lamb seals Yahweh’s covenant with the people whom he had chosen from among the other peoples. Passover will be the Israel’s independence and God will allow Jesus to die and rise again in the days of the Passover. By crossing the Red Sea Yahweh save the Israelites from the Egyptian by dividing the waters of the Red Sea. A very miraculous scene that every one would be amazed but God proves again His power to Israelites and because of that their faith to Him becomes stronger than before.
