This
book is a transcription of the Book of Job, as displayed in the Holy Bible. However, as a separate volume, it contains a great deal of introductory and explanatory materials that exacerbate our suffering with and for Job, and brings us, with him, closer to GOD, with a
deeper understanding of the Divine, and at least the potential of a deeper, truer and direct relationship with the GOD of all gods, the Lord of the Universe, the Creator of all things, who cares for us and comforts us in disaster with the knowledge of his Presence and Power and Beauty and Love. For though HE allows us to be tested, yet His Love restores us when the time of testing is past, if we fail not--complain and whine though we will, and often enough, do.
Job was not perfect--and when he said that he would trust GOD though GOD should slay him, yet he (Job) would maintain his ways before HIM (GOD), he made (a Satanic) an ego-oriented mistake in GOD''s eyes, who hates false pride and arrogance almost as much as he hates
Ignorance--
particularly deliberate and/or self-serving ignorance, (and worst of all) when others are made to suffer by, for and of that ignorance (in a spirtiual sense, particularly).
The friends who came to "comfort" Job and get him to confess some (non-existent) sins--that GOD never permitted the innocent to suffer or be tested as to and in their faithfulness or readiness for some task; or some benefit or gift; or for their or other''s edification and deeper understanding; or to create an even more profound and deeper relationship with HIM, or for any other reason. But GOD spoke out, and said that "My Servant, JOB, has spoken that which is right of Me," and told the others to apologize to JOB, who offered their sin offerings and sacrifices to GOD for them.
But with this book of the Bible, Man''s relationship with GOD changed forever. One need not be a great prophet like Abraham, Saul or Samuel to have a direct relationship with GOD and the beauty of the Divine in one''s life in a personal I-Thou relationship (as Martin Buber phrased it)--that GOD, for whatever reason, wanted our hearts and our love and whatever understanding of that relationship we were ready for--not just sacrifices and fears or lip-service.
This book contains an original translation of the biblical book of Job, along with notes on the text and on the original Hebrew, as well as other points relevant to the translation of the book. There is also a selected bibliography and a list of books and journals useful to biblical scholarship.
