The Last Templar by Raymond Khoury is a brilliant book. It is based on a modern day
search for a set a secret holy
scriptures hidden by the last of the famous Knights Templar over 700 years ago. The search involves three
different parties trying to decipher coded material, indentify where in the world the deciphered material is pointing to and finding the scriptures first. All parties have very different reasons for wanting the scriptures which gives the book a great storyline that involves murder, betrayal, fantastic twists that you just dont see coming and of course the much needed love story.
The story has a very powerful underlying theme that centres around the
history of the Roman Catholic Church. It has a
religious undertone that makes you think long and hard about the state of the world and what it would be like if the Beliefs of the RC
Church were found to be based on lies and deception. I'm not personally religious but the story does make you see how things could be so very different if history became changed.
I found this to be a book i couldn't put down. Some sections were a little on the unbelievable side but they still gripped me to the extent that i couldn't stop reading. I have already lent the book to a friend who asked to borrow it as soon as i started describing the story and i would definately recommend you read it too, especially if you like history with a twist.
