Book of Philippians

Book Summary by: TelsCafe

Original Author: Holy Bible
The "Book of Philippians" is the letter of Paul to the churches in Philippi.
Paul addresses this letter to the churches
in Philippi, a part of northern Greece which the Greeks call Macedonia. At Philippi, the apostle Paulentered Europe for the first time. There he preached about Christ and began a church. In particular, they warned the Christians there that they may have to suffer, just a Jesus suffered and that he (Paul) himself is, too. But that they should continue in faith.
The "Book of the Philippians" consists of 4 chapters and include the following: Paul's greetings and a prayer to the Christians in Philippi, what life means to Paul, Christ's example of true humility, news about Paul's friends, being acceptable to God, Paul thanks the Philippians, and final greetings.
When the apostle Paul wrote this letter to the Philippians, he was in jail. He is hoping to be set free so that he can continue preaching the good news, at the same time he thinks he might be put to death soon.
At that time, Philippians were having confusion with their faith. Some members claim that people must obey the law of Moses in order to be saved. Paul strongly warns them to watch out and be careful of these people. He is also happy as he remembers the kindness that the Christians in Philippi showed him.
The kindness of God is imparted by Paul as he teaches the church in Ephesus how to live together in unity as Christians.
