She Knew Him When He Called Her Name

Book Review by: kurieuo

Original Author: Lynnette Brashear on John 20
She Knew Him When He Called Her Name….
Something just quickened in my Spirit when I was reading the 20th chapter of
John. It was telling the story of Mary at the empty tomb. When I got to the part where Jesus called her name and she turned toward him and exclaimed Teacher! those words dropped in my Spirit…She knew Him when He called her name. Many times we go through life but when He calls you there’s something about that moment that you just know that you know that you know, you heard the Lord.
The text started with Mary standing outside the tomb crying. Many times we find ourselves crying and worrying over….just stuff. But actually many times what we are crying over is actually a blessing in disguise. All we can see is the sad situation. All we can feel is the desperation, the loss, the anxiety, the nervousness….Often times we feel defeated. However, when Mary stooped and looked in….(when we search the situation just a lil bit deeper), she encountered two angels at the point where Jesus had been lying. They asked her, Why are you crying. Now they already knew the answer, but sometimes we just have to address the issue ourselves. We have to just spell it out to see the whole picture.
Mary automatically assumed incorrectly that the body of Jesus had been taken. Even though the scriptures stated and Jesus Himself stated that He would arise and defeat death, Mary still assumed the logical. Even though we heard a Word from God and read scriptures supporting the Word, and had a vision of what GOD said would be…we tend to get lost on the reality of situations going on. We temporarily forget, sometimes, what the Lord told us about a certain situation.
Just as Mary stated what was wrong, she glanced around and saw what she thought was a gardener. It was Jesus, yet she didn’t recognize Him. She automatically assumed that this gardener had taken the body so she was asking where it was and she would go get it. Often times we have Jesus, right there in the midst, right there in the situation, but we’re asking where do we need to go to find Him. Look closely in your situation…HE’S RIGHT THERE…
Then Jesus called her by name and immediately, she knew Him when He called her name. It’s not anything you can describe really…you just know when you’ve heard the voice of the Father calling you; speaking life into your situation, calling you up to be what He says you are and not what the world THINKS you are.
He told Mary to go tell his brothers that He was ascending to His father…. Many times you can tell people the message the Lord gave you and they will receive it, and other times they just can’t see it. Many times people just have to see for themselves and then they believe. Well Jesus then appeared to the disciples and He breathed on them and told them to receive the Holy Spirit.
Many times we are seeking Him and He’s right there in the midst of our troubles. In the midst of these trials, when He is ready for us to recognize Him, He’ll call you by name and then you will know Him and recognize Him.
