Prayer-Walk St. Louis Guidebook & Journal

Book Review by: Les

Original Author: Lesley Barker
Every local church’s prayer priorities include the people and the purposes of God for its community. St. Louis, the “Gateway
to the West” where the rivers meet in the heartland of the nation, is an historic city with many significant tourist sites. The city was not founded as an American town. It was French at first. Almost immediately after it was laid out by Auguste Chouteau in 1764, the government of St. Louis was transferred to Spain. Even after the city became part of Thomas Jefferson’s Louisiana Purchase in 1803, the Spanish laws remained on the books for a couple of decades. Many of the sites featured in this little booklet, derive their fame from the days before the Louisiana Purchase. Others are more modern.
Prayer-Walk St. Louis Guidebook & Journal takes readers to 18 major St. Louis tourist sites and provides historical and cultural information about each place. When this information is submitted to the Holy Spirit, the prayers triggered by the suggested Scripture verses will help to accomplish one of the 7 Biblical reasons for prayer-walking.
1. To praise God for His handiwork and for His wonderful gifts to men
2. To assess a situation to see what needs to be changed
3. To claim territory for God’s kingdom rule
4. To cleanse land that has been defiled by idolatry or bloodshed
5. To affirm and to establish the promises of God
6. To prepare the way of the Lord
7. To prepare the way for the people to come to the Lord
Small enough to fit into a purse or a briefcase, Prayer-Walk St. Louis Guidebook & Journal features convenient lined pages for the intercessor/ tourist to log their experience. It is a wonderful tool for prayer groups, individual intercessors, home-schoolers and visitors to the city. This unusual mix of history and devotional readings provides a tourist with a unique way to reflect on and record their trip to St. Louis.
