Stephen
King's novel Misery dives
into the life of a writer, Paul Sheldon, who is held captive by a mad
nurse, Annie Wilks. Sheldon crashes his car on a snowy Colorado road
and Wilks finds him. She is his number one fan and nurses him back to
health. Lucky Sheldon - he's locked away with a murderer.
Wilks
is in love with this author because of his own series about Misery
Chastain. Paul has just finished a novel bringing the series to an
end. This is unacceptable for Wilks, and she locks him in a room to
rewrite the next novel in the Misery series. She will use whatever
force is required to get the story to her liking, whether a needle or
an ax.
He
complies, but only because of her torture. He hates her and wants to
kill her, but at the same time she is feeding him the energy to write
the best novel of his career. Really, lucky Sheldon - he creates his
best novel to date.
