I had a brother who
died at 3 weeks of age from an anurism that broke in his brain. I
was one month from the age of 2 and have no memory of him. I knew
that he died in the house, period. When he died, my
mom discovered him and had to be hospitalized. She wasn''t able to
attend the funeral/burial. Due to the trauma that his death had
on my mom, we didn''t discuss him ever - she couldn''t even seek
out his grave until nearly 25 years later.
At 17 I''d already had my share of ghostly experiences - our house
was quite haunted. I wasn''t prepared for what happened one summer
afternoon. I''d just turned off the television in the downstairs
game room and was about to ascend the
step to go into my room
which was located right at the top of the stairs. I began hear
the
sound of an infant
crying - the sound was coming from
upstairs. I
stopped after a couple of steps to be sure of what I
was hearing and not only was it still there, but it was a little
louder. I slowly
continued up the steps as careful as a thief in
an effort to keep the sound in earshot. With each step, the sound
grew a bit louder. It was definitely a baby. Just crying and
crying.
About a third from the top of the stairs, I realized with a jolt
that the sound was coming from *my* room. I stopped for a while
to listen. I felt so sorry for it. I continued on as carefully as
before. I''d reached the top and something told me that I''d never
be able to see what it was. I also had the distinct feeling that
whatever it was would go away as soon as I came to the top step.
I got up my nerve and slowly brought my foot down in the top
landing and the sound abruptly stopped.
With my mom''s past history with my brother, I was hesitant to
bring up my experience. However, she and I had aleady shared some
paranormal experiences and I just *had* to talk to her about it.
As I recounted the story, I searched her face for signs of stress.
You can imagine my surprise when she smiled when I finished and
said, "you mean that''s only the first time you''ve heard him,
I hear him all the time." She went on to tell me that my
current room had been the nursery and that he had died there.
