Around a certain church stood many tombs and they had cracks under the lids .So the ghosts use to escape from
it at night. The
tomb of the
bishop had the largest crack as people carried away bits of plaster from his tomb considering it holy. A mason had offered to repair bishop’s tomb if his wife recovered from sickness. So when she recovered, one early morning, the mason came and repaired the tomb of bishop. All the ghosts were out of their tombs at that time. As the day cracked all the ghosts went to their tomb but bishops ghost couldn’t. So it entered another tomb which was occupied by the ghost of a young girl who died of love. So the bishop’s ghost begged the girl to let him stay in the tomb. The girl left the tomb and hid behind the pillars. She saw a young sad man whose daughter was very ill. So she followed him and as soon as the child died, she entered its body. The child opened its eyes and was thus saved.
This child grew into a beautiful young woman. When ever she had time she would go to the tomb where the bishop lay and talk to him. One day the bishop told her that he would like to return to his own tomb. So she made a great crack in the bishop’s original tomb with her hair pin and the bishop entered his tomb happily.
Next evening the bishop thanked her and made her promise not to commit her first mistake of dying in love again. The young woman assured him that when she committed that mistake she was eighteen both in body and soul but now though she was eighteen in body her soul is thirty six years old, so she wouldn’t do the same mistake again
