Insomnia by horror maestro
Stephen King starts slowly enough with a man grieving
for his dying wife playing mediator between his crazed neighbor and a
stranger. Jump forward several months later after his wife's death and Ralph Roberts is in the grips of
insomnia, rising earlier and earlier each day from his sleep and fearing a time when he won't be allowed any sleep. The worst is yet to come when he starts to see the things his insane neighbor speak of, a world of colors and little bald doctors which apparently nobody else sees.
His relief that the woman he has fallen in love with, Lois Chasse has the same problems is short-lived. Ralph and Lois have been dragged unknowing into a
battle between 2 opposing forces. As the
Random uses Edward Deepneau, so the
Purpose has chosen Ralph Roberts. Despite what Ralph is told about freedom of choice, Ralph knows very well that he has no choices. Ralph agrees to help, only after extracting a promise.
Perhaps the most interesting part of this book is Ralph's final
decision. 1 life versus several thousand ? A loved one versus a stranger ? All or nothing ?
