Resident Evil is a horror/
action book. It tells the reader a grusome story of infection and the living dead. It all starts
off when a scientific corparation creates a contagous virus made to wipe out mankind. A unknown worker breaks one of the virus containers and lets the virus spread into the ventilation system which spreads across the underground building, infecting all the workers. Like any other zombie novel, all the dead come back to life to eat the living. Five unknown
survivors travel down to the secret facility named 'the hive' to figure out what has gone wrong. Soon enough the Five brave survivors become prey to the zombies and other deadly creatures that await them. There is an exellent scene in the book where there is a creature on the tram underground that is taking the remaining survivors back to the surface. Only Three survivors are on the tram with the creature named the 'Licker' They safely destroy it by risking one of their lifes. Only Two remain back to civilisation, but one of them is turning into a genetic monster. Alice the main character in the story is taken away for tests in a lab. Her partner has gone because he was infected. At the end Alice escapes the lab and walks outside where the infection has run riot. This tells us there will definately be a sequal to this novel because it has a brilliant plot that grips the reader on suspence and makes a frightning mood for the story.
The novel tells any one who reads it that this
horror/ action based story tries to give horror/ gore and action at the same time.
But in my opinon it is more action and gore than horror. The good thing about the end is that it leaves the reader on a cliffhanger which all ways makes the reader wait for the sequal which is a powerful thing to do when writing a book.
