The Dark Crusader

Book Review   by:Ramesh Nayak     Original Author: Allistair Maclean
ª

Very ingenious plot indeed! Agent John Bentall was urgently summoned by the security chief Colonel Raine and asked to proceed on an intriguing mission to unearth a very sinister plot. Thus starts the hair-raising saga of suspense, adventure and double deal.
Eight advertisements had appeared in the Daily Telegraph during the last eight months calling for experts in various rare fields. Abnormally high salaries were offered. But Colonel Raine found out that all the eight who went for the job disappeared along with their wives.
In the mean time nineth similar advertisement appeared requiring a fuel research specialist. Colonel Raine had already answered this ad in the name of John Bentall and made all the arrangement for his travel posing as fuel specialist.A lady agent Mary Hopeman accompanied him acting as his wife as only married persons were eligible to apply for the job. John Bentall’s attempts to unravel the secret lead to very curious events. One cannot put down the book due to so many twists and turns. Final pages are extremely enthralling. The end of the plot is as unexpected as convincing. Excellent story indeed!
