The book starts with a body being found by a hiker Chuck McCaul in a remote glacier in the Alps with identification on it saying that the person was Paul March , an American, who had been missing for two years. Jennifer , his daughter, sets off for Switzerland to identify his body. And from then on her life takes a bizarre twist as she is caught up in a “Web of Deceit”. The author has taken great care to be precise and twist the tale to keep the reader engrossed and guessing till the last page.
While Jennifer is preparing to leave to Switzerland, a CIA agent Jack Kelso approaches Mark Ryan , a good friend of Jennifer with the concern that her life is in danger as her father was working for the CIA before he disappeared. Kelso convinces Mark to follow Jennifer to Switzerland without her knowledge to make sure she is safe. In the meantime Chuck McCaul is murdered in Switzerland. As the story passes Jennifer meets Frank McCaul , the father of Chuck McCaul and the pair go through a bizarre set of events with Mark on their tail.
The story goes on with a bizarre set of events, one after the other, packed with nail biting moments. The story unfolds with Jennifer coming to know that her father had been the vice-president of Prime International Securities, a company run by the Moscayas, a Russian Mafia clan, a year before he had disappeared. She learns that CIA agent Kelso approached him to get paper evidence that the CIA required to prosecute the owners. And that her father left behind a disk containing vital information required for the case before he disappeared.
However what Jennifer is unaware of is the looming threat upon her. That the people she trusts are not trustworthy. That the Frank McCaul she is with has a secret of his own. And that danger lurks just around the corner. The author has done a great job.
