In the last years, we have heard about many different interpretations and opinion about the very famous bestseller titled The Da Vince Code.
Why people has spoken so much about this book? Let's say the truth: the book has a capturing plot, but it's not greatly written. The author, Dan Brown, has used the elements collected by other former scholars, in order to create a very succesful commercial product.
Why the catholic clergy has felt offended by the book? Because the book proposes some pseudo-truth which makes great effect on popular imagination. It suggest that Christ had a wife, who was Maria Magdalena, who escaped to Europe and had sons. The Holy Graal, (San Graal) is a symbol that represents the original Christian filiation. It's the "royal blood", meaning for "royal" the religious majesty of Christ's blood. Considering such reconstruction (which is not based on truly solid bases, we must admit) we see that the Catholic Church founded by Saint Peter in Roma would lose immediately its legimization to exist. Christ didn't found that very powerful institution that still nowaday exists and inluences the policy - and also the economy - of a huge part of the world. We even cannot imagine what our world, what our civilization would have been, without the Church's existence.
So, Dan Brown has written a book that would undermine the roots of a so historically solid institution.
Now let's consider another fact.
The other important fact to consider is called: Freemasonry. Who are freemasons? Freemasons are affiliated people of some masonic loge. There are many loges, and it's claimed that the "serious" ones are the ones reconnected to the scottish ancient order of Memphis. Anyway, the large number of loges still living and operating around the world doesn't allow to consider them like the parts of a single unified body. Compared to Catholic Church, the Freemasonry has no head. There are loges which respect the ancient and originale masonic tradition, and other which don't care about it, and have been often renewed.
The Freemasons who have grown a huge economic power, mainly in America and partly in Europe, are to be considered the representative guys of a not traditional loge.
For documentation about Freemasons, there are many books available in every language.
