Deception Point

Book Review   by:Insomniac23     Original Author: Dan Brown

Rachel Sexton was personally recommended by the President of the United States to help endorse an astonishing discovery of NASA - a discovery that could help an ailing presidential campaign and boost civilian enthusiam in NASA. Together with a group of civilian scientists, at the Milne Ice Shelf, Rachel saw herself looking at what could be the most amazing NASA find in history, a find that would bolster the age-long theory that there is life in space. However, a discovery in the ice shelf of something strange led toa deception that could destroy, not only the President, and NASA, but could cost Rachel her life.

This novel by Dan Brown got too scientific for me to enjoy the thrill and suspense of the deception. It was laborious to turn the page when the civilian scientists began talking about the composition of the meteorites and the rocks underneath the water. Granted all this scientific mumbo-jumbo is needed to better understand the novel, still, and I will say it again, it just got too scientific. I honestly do not know if the author could sacrifice some of the nerdy talk to make the novel more exciting than it already was. Anyhow, the political plot made it worth the read, if only for the next few pages, until the reader is slumped with yet another explanation of Hydra this or Bacillus that. I liked the novel though; I just skipped the science part.
