The Courier

Book Review   by:readbyiona     Original Author: Ava McCarthy

Poor Harry witnesses a murder while she has been asked by her client to crack open her husband's safe. But poor Harry is been set up as a fall guy, while she is there the husband turns up, Harry rushes to lock herself and the wife in the safe, but she still sees the husband getting murdered. After a while when enough time has passed Harry opens the safe and the wife runs offs and Harry realises her business card is missing. The killer has taken it. Next thing she hears is the police sirens in the distance.

When Detective Hunter arrives on the scene Harry is the prime suspect in the murder. When she tries to explain why she is there, he ignores her answers. Since another Detective named Lynne has given him a heads up on her, he isn't prone to trust her. Big mistake. Harry is not dumb and if Detective Hunter listened to her, he might solve his case quicker.

Harry of course has no idea the drama about to enter her life.  Her father is now back in her life since he has been released from jail. He's currently living it up in a hotel and on the night someone tries to kill Harry when she leaves her office, she heads to his hotel for safety. Later Harry's father oblivious to all the drama in her life, tells her he has gone and brought a race horse. So when Harry finds out the stables he will be staying in, she decides to visit it with her father and finds herself facing Dan Kruger. He seems sincere but looks can be deceiving. So Harry does what she does best, she breaks into his house and hacks into his Wi-Fi system, but of course things don't go to plan and poor Harry gets knocked out and when she wakes up she finds herself locked in a stall with a scared horse who ends up kicking her and dislocating her shoulder.

Harry then finds out that she is being mistaken for the wrong lady and Eve who was the lady who hired her break in the safe was the stepdaughter of the murdered man and has set up Harry to take the blame for diamonds she is stealing from a syndicate in Cape Town.  So Harry realises she needs to head to Cape Town to solve this case once and for all, she also realises she might just not come back from there.

The main character in this book is a very smart and intriguing female. The author has written a great follow up book. The story is compelling and gripping from the very beginning. Of course Harry is still using her hacker skills to get into places she shouldn't be. I wonder would they actually work in real life. The background of this book takes place in Cape Town and there is scenes when you are introduced to the mining of diamonds. It's not pretty either. But what you really realises is this book could be a true story. The whole diamond trading industry is put under the spot light here. I'm pretty sure book three will be just as good as the previous two.
