Nancy Drew-The Hidden Staircase

Book Review   by:adc1057     Original Author: Carolyn Keene
ª

Nancy Drew is a young American detective living in River Heights, with her father Carson Drew who is a lawyer, and Hannah Gruen who looked after Nancy when Mrs. Drew passed away. Carolyn Keene penned “Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase”. This is a fast moving book with no boring details about things. Everything and every page in this book are totally action-packed! Nancy is invited by Helen Corning and Aunt Rosemary to investigate about the strange happenings at Twin Elms—an old mansion in Cliffwood. Nancy also receives a not-so-friendly guest—Nathan Comber who tells her that her father could be in danger as the people who sold their property for building a bridge got very less payment. So she is warned by him to stick close to him or there shall be dire consequences. She also comes to know that a man named Willie Wharton has gone missing shortly after this. People have claimed that he did not actually sign the certificate. Even though Nancy should look after his father, she goes to Twin Elms to help Helen, as her father assures her he will be fine and goes to Mexico to search for Willie. Nancy arrives at Cliffwood. And even in her presence she finds strange, ghostly happenings going on and there is no sign of the ghost. Also, the ghost steals jewellery and food items! Nancy concludes that there must be a hidden passageway for the ghost to enter and leave the house. In the meantime, Nancy’s father while coming to Twin Elms from Mexico is kidnapped by some strange men in black suits. Nancy is now on a slippery ground! She does not have any clues for both the cases and cannot understand how both her cases are co-related! What now???
