Without remorse is one of the bests of Tom Clancy... Set in the 1970''s this book brings to the fore the real identity of
Mr.C (as called by Domingo). Featuring in most of the Jack Ryan series, Clark is known for his daredevil actions. Be it in Colombia, Russia or even Iran, he filtrates into the country to get the job done, be it smuggling people out or even terminating people.
Now this is the book which explains how the legend Clark arrived. Originally John Kelly, he loses the women he loves. be it his pregnant wife or the girl he rescues for the brink of death(actually on the highway). This makes it go for the people who are spoiling the country, drug dealers. He manages to kill the small peddlers and finally manages to get ride of the big guns, which include a corrupt police officer.
In between he even flies to Vietnam to carryout a unsuccessful rescue operation of the US pilots, including a high level officer Zacharias.
Finally he is recruited by the CIA, especialy by Admiral James Greer and Bob Ritter, who at the time in into field operations.
Jack Ryan also features in this book as a young man about to get into Marines training. Incidentally it is Ryan''s father Lt.Emmet Ryan who manages to catch Kelly and later lets him go away.
A book which gives importance to emotions of human mind, this is the first time Sandy Clark(then, Sandy O''Toole) is introduced, who takes care of the girls who were rescued by Kelly.
A typical Clancy thing as far as the UPS is concerned though there is more life and emotions in this novel.
Really a page turner and Clancy is at his best... really Without remorse
