Four Blind Mice

Four Blind Mice by James Patterson is a thriller about greed and revenge.   Some people will do anything
for a dollar bill.  Dr. Alex Cross who is a black psychologist is about to retire from his positin as a detective with the D.C. police force when a very good friend of his, John Sampson who is a police officer with the D.C. police force informs him that one of his old army buddies, a Sargent Cooper from his days in Vietnam is in prison in Raleigh, North Carolina for murder.  Sargent Cooper did not commit the murders and he is being framed.  He has only three weeks to live before he is executed for the crime.  Dr. Alex Cross and John Sampson go down to the prison in Raleigh, North Carolina.  They listen to Sargent Cooper tell his version of what happened and they know that he is telling the truth, but they have so little time to investigate.   Sargent Cooper is executed in three weeks and Dr. Alex Cross and John Sampson vow to find the real murderers.  Back in Washington, D.C., Dr. Cross gets lots of information and assistance from some people that he knows at the F.B.I.  He investigates all leads which takes him and John Sampson back to Raleigh, North Carolina to dangerous territory.  They find out that it is three retired army officers that are being paid large sums of money to commit these murders and they are framing former army men who have exemplary records for the crimes.  Dr. Cross and John Sampson meet up with the killers and almost lose their lives, but they escape and the killers are caught.   It seems  like the case has been resolved, but Dr. Cross wants to know who was paying these men to kill and frame. He investigates further and finds out that the United States Army is behind it all.
