FREEMASONRY FOR FREEMASONS AND NO-FREEMASONS

Book Review by: hgespuny

Original Author: WILSON RIBEIRO
This abstract was translated from MAÇONARIA PARA LEIGOS E MAÇONS
FOREWORD OF HERBERT GONÇALVES ESPUNY.
The book in subject approaches such masonic themes as the profile of the
Freemason and of the Freemasonry, the origin and objectives of the same, the process of admission of the freemason, treats of masonic symbols and, especially, of subjects regarding current freemasonry.
The author, already died, an illustrious and old Brazilian Freemason that accompanied part of the evolution of the Freemasonry in Brazil was and he was resented of the changes, mainly in that concerns the siblings'' disunion and of "modernities" in the ritual. He criticizes, also, certain procedures - before forbidden, today tolerated - in the behavior of the Freemasons.
The book approaches facts of the Brazilian Freemasonry under the privileged to look of the author... Privileged because besides knowing plenty the masonic rituals, Wilson has an including vision of the institution: he knows - and this knowledge is, maybe, the essence of the book - that the Freemasonry is done by men and it is inherent to the men a series of mistakes and flaws... However, in spite of conscious of this - because he was  psychoanalyst - the Freemason speaks higher... In fact,  not speaks... Screams. The Freemason screams higher trying to demonstrate that the existent problems can provoke irreparable damages to the Institution... Chapters as the "Disunion makes the Weakness" the author shows that understands to be serious problems of the politics masonic inhabitant from São Paulo.
Finally the author talks about the 33 degrees that compose some of the masonic rites. He approaches some characteristics of the same ones relating them to facts and the other aspects of the occultism, of the history, of the religions, etc.
It is a book to be read, as the title suggests, for Freemasons and no-Freemasons: the first ones will find incentives for a serious reflection of the masonic activity in São Paulo and in Brazil; the seconds will better be able to know the Freemasonry.
