The Bourne Identity is a spy
thriller novel by Robert Ludlum. The plot is cleverly done and easy to follow. As usual, there
is a touch of romance to make the story more enjoyable.
The story begins with a man's body, having bullet wounds, being rescued from the ocean after a turbulent storm. He was naturally in a coma for sometime and for this, he undergoes a complete amnesia. One of the doctors present him a series of extremely disturbing facts about himself.
As he agonizingly looks for his true
identity, he is bothered, tortured by violent images of his past. There is a stage in his life that he has undergone plastic surgery to change his appearance. Despite perfect eyesight, his eyes show evidence of his use of contact lens, even his hair contains traces of hair dye. His body also shows scars from bullets, probably from wounds of war. There is a microfiche surgically implanted in his thigh that contains a Swiss bank account number, and it has an amount containing four million dollars. He is even a master of language speaking not only in English but French, Spanish, and Oriental language. Now the clincher, someone is out to kill him.
In the final analysis of events, it is only a woman and her blind faith in believing in him that ultimately saves him from self-doubts and condemnation, and the will power to continue in the search for his identity.
