PROFILE OF KILLERS- BOSTON
STRANGLER August 21,1962.seventyfive year old widow Ida igra lay dead on the floor. Two ends of the pillow had been shaped into a bow under her chin, which is the hallmark of the Boston strangler. Ida igra was raped and murdered. The police knew the murderer was Boston strangler who has created terror in that area by raping and killing women aged between nineteen and eighty-five. Police were unable to find the true culprit.
On October 27,1964, a young housewife living in Massachusetts, reported to the police, she was
attacked by a man in green slacks and goggles when her husband was away. As the man approached her she made noise and he pounced on her in the bed and pinned her in bed and took the knife and asked her to be silent. He fondled her body and kissed her but to her relief he left quickly. Police Artist prepared the sketch of face of green slacks clad man. It was then compared to photo in police records. A detective recognized the man – that man have been arrested for obscene behavior against women and have been sent to prison for 11months.The name of the man was Albert H De Salvo. There after scores of women identified him as the man who attacked them and referred to him as ‘green man’ as he wore green slacks at the time of attack. While being held for trial for rape charges,’the green man’ was send to Boston state hospital at bridge water for observation. There he was found to be “potentially suicidal and quite overtly schizophrenic” and not in position to stand trial and he was send to mental hospital.
But there was no murder case against him. He was urged by his own wife to confess all his misdeeds and there after he opened up and confessed all his murders.
He opened up and said he had raped and strangled about 13 women. Some of his victims were Anna slesers his first victim, Nina nichol’s, Sophie clark aged 20,Mary Sullivan aged 19 and Ida igra aged 75 All his victims were strangled and has famous trade mark-knot resembled crude bow made from stockings or cloths in the assaulted area. When detective asked why he attacked seventy five year old woman who was not attractive he replied that age and attractiveness have nothing to do with this and when impulse arise he had to rape and kill. Detectives asked him to show the knot, which he made immediately, which resembled crude, bow of Boston strangler. The police was convinced that he was the Boston strangler but there was no corroborative evidence apart from his confession, he could not be charged of all these murders and he was sent to live imprisonment. In November 26,1973,the forty two year old strangler was found dead in his cell with 16 stab wounds. It remained mystery as to who killed him.
