Lieutenant Eve Dallas possesses all the qualities that make a good cop. She is clever, courageous and patient; she also has an excellent memory, an indomitable spirit and the razor sharp instincts that separate a genius from the rest of the pack. She is one of the most dedicated officers in the NYPSD and is well on her way to becoming the youngest female captain in the history of the department. Her superiors consider her the best in the business. She is respected by her peers and revered by her subordinates.
Aside from her professional accomplishments, her personal life is the stuff of which dreams are made; she is hopelessly in love with an Irish billionaire named Roarke. He was not above bending the rules for a good cause until he married a cop with a passion for justice. Still, not every one admires the brilliant detective. A certain select group within the department attributes her meteoric rise to factors other than excellent police work. One such grumbler complains to internal affairs. The lieutenant has never paid attention to politics; she does her job.
Dallas has a talent for cracking tough cases. However, she keeps stumbling over road blocks on her latest assignment (a homeless man who had his heart surgically removed). Now the cop with everything is suddenly under investigation for murder. Suspended until further notice Eve is forced to pursue her case outside of departmental channels.
