This is a fascinating
mystery. The central character is deeply oriented to the mysteries and the Mysteries (although in a less than fully conscious manner). She learns as she goes along, (and so do we) about many of the mysteries of the Otherworld, as she seeks to penetrate a mysterious disappearance nearly half a century old, and mysterious appearances that seem to come to life, and into her life, when he boyfriend buys the vacant lot next door to her home, and they begin to clear it. Great numbers of "faeries" or Will-of-the-Wisps make their appearance, and they will not be laid until the mystery is uncovered and the uneasy
ghosts are laid to rest. Her favorite mother
cat disappears; her children are devastated. A mysterious ghostly cat makes its appearance, one which looks almost identical to her beloved calico. A beautiful young red-headed girl starts making her appearance as well. When they discover the foundations of an old, nearly forgotten mansion next door, and the diary and a few belongings of a young Irish girl in the ruins, the mystery only deepens. It is a fascinating mystery story, yet told in a very matter-of-fact fashion. I look forward to reading more of this authors works.
