The whip-crackng archaeologist, adventurer, and professor,
Indiana Jones, is back. Digging among the ruins in the Central
American ruins of the Mayan civilization, within a cave, he is barely rescued from a
fall into a sacrificial well and river, only to come back and find his camp taken over by Russian soldiers, all his helpless native workers ruthlessly killed, and he and his friend captured, kidnapped, and taken
on an expedition which is setting out to find something of great value; the perpetrators killing anyone who gets in their way. Although he eventually manages to escape, he has to go back to rescue friends who
have disappeared in similar circumstances. He finds, or is found by, a young man who begs
Indiana Jones's help to find and rescue his mother and her friend and surrogate father. But they are almost immediately in the clutches of the merciless Russian elite troops; they are all in pursuit of the Crystal Skull, and the legendary city of gold the Spanish had called "El Dorado."
This is an incredibly fast-paced novel, an intense action-filled story that will keep you reading from beginning to end with excitement and enjoyment in a plot as twisted and convoluted (yet easy to understand and follow) as nearly any imaginable. It is based on the movie of the same name.
