Whiskey Mattinoe is a recently widowed
real estate agent in the (USA)
Great Lakes area, with a talent and a necessity
for finding out the
truth.
This story begins as Whiskey's friend and massage therapist tells her
about the man who died on the same table (where she is getting a
massage) only a short time before. When the local police chief
recommends his family to her, Whiskey gets them a short term rental --
but there are break-ins and eventually a murder there.
Whiskey is responsible, including for the loss of a very valuable
painting by the "Cloud Artist." And there is much doubt about HIS fate
and paintings and property.
She is also responsible for Abra, a beautiful golden
Afghan hound that
belonged to her husband Leo before he died in a tragic accident. Abra
is a wild and thieving dog, with a taste for lady's handbags, including
one with the dead artist's severed finger in it.
This is a funny story and a very pleasant read. It is complicated
enough to be intriguing and fun enough to be thoroughly enjoyed -- a
delightful mystery.
