The Girl Who Played With Fire

Book Summary by: MiguelPires

Original Author: Stieg Larsson
"The Girl Who Played with Fire" (2009), by the Swedish journalist Stieg Larsson (1954-2004). The Swedish original title
is "Flickan som lekte med elden" (2006). This is the second volume of the trilogy "Millennium," where the deceased Stieg Larsson tells the story of Mikael Blomkvist, journalist with lots of adventures, and Lisbeth Salander, gifted, hacker and total victim, although not admiting it to anybody. In this volume, Lisbeth is the main character (in contrast with the first one, where everything is centered around Mikael). She's the active character and adventurer who tries to solve her problems by herself. It's in this volume that the reader really gets to know the story of Lisbeth. This volume does not function as an independent book, not even resolves the main plot in the end, as it happens with the first one. I even think it has some scenes that, for as very pleasantly written and readable as they can be, do not contribute in anything for the main plot. Removing these parts (perhaps to a volume of shortstories?) from this book and from the third, the two could be joined in a coherent and resolved one. But it's worth reading, at least to get to know a little better Lisbeth Salander. Enjoy!
