The last Templar is a well written piece, the story takes place in modern 21'st century times, it revolves around the two
main characters, one is a beautiful, intelligent single mother Tess Chaykin, who is a field archeologist, she is visiting the Mett Museum in New York when it is raided by four armed raiders wearing
templar knight costumes.
The other main character is an FBI Agent, Sean Reilly, a devout catholic, who is assigned to investigate the raid on the Mett in collaboration with the Vatican church, whose artifacts were stolen. Sean will have to deal with conflict's between his religious beliefs and his duty as an FBI agent.
The two are brought together in this unforseen event as they try to figure out a mystery millennia old, Tess figures out later that the main objective of the raid was to aquire a strange and ancient encoding machine used by the Templar Knight's to encrypt their most important documents and letters.
The situation becomes more dire when the raiders are being killed off one by one by an unknown killer, Tess tries to delve deeper into the mystery of the Templars and comes into contact with Professor Vance, Vance is consumed with revenge against the Church for the death of his wife and child, he is the one behind the raid on the Mett, Vance kidnapped her and takes her to a hidden location in the city, he then begins to explain his reasons for doing what he had done But Vance hears a noise from outside, he goes to investigate and Tess escapes into some tunnels that lead into the sewer.
Tess eventually manages to get above ground after a grueling ordeal, tell's Reilly about everything, Tess had managed to grab some of the papers that Vance needed to decode and the FBI Photographed them, unfortunately, Tess recieved a phone call from Vance, he was at her house with her family, she took the papers back to her house and gave them back to Vance, who then dissapeared.
The FBI had managed to make a Replica of the decoder machine and had decoded the photographed documents from Vance, it was a letter written by a Templar, depicting the location of the treasure of the Templars which had never been found, Tess tries to go looking for it on her own but is caught by Reilly, and they go together, against the wishes of the FBI. They take a plane to Turkey and begin to follow the instructions in the letter.
Eventually, after going through many ordeals, they find the location, an old town, unfortunately though, it is submerged in a lake created by the dam there, they convince the technician at the dam to let them use the diving gear to go down, they do, and they are able to retrieve an oilskin sack from a grave in the church, but when they surface they are greeted by Vance and two of his hired thugs.
Vance takes the oilskin, inside is another letter left by the Templar telling them that the real treasure is concealed within the figurehead of a sunken templar ship, Moments later however, they come under fire from a hidden sniper, the two thugs are killed but Vance, Tess and Reilly manage to escape in a jeep.
Camping in the mountains, Tess and Reilly talk to Vance, Reilly decides that he will bring Vance back to face his trial, But Tess disagrees, she takes the jeep and Vance while Reilly is away and leaves him behind to search for the Templar secret, suddenly a helicopter comes into view and lands by Reilly, De
Angleus, a priest who was working with them on the case was there, he revealed to Reilly what they were after could destroy the church, Reilly decides to help him and they set off after Vance.
Vance and Tess Charter a treasure hunting ship and set off to find the treasure, meanwhile, Reilly and De Angleus, with the support of the Turkish Coastguard are hunting them, they manage to find where they are when two large storms hit, Tess and Vance have managed to find the treasure, Vance had to kill the captain and hold the rest of the crew at gunpoint to make them comply, De Angleus did the same, De Angleus took control of the coast guard ship's cannon and fired upon the other ship as it tried to escape into the storm.
The treasure hunting ship capsizes, Reilly kills De Angleus, then throws himself into the sea to find Tess, he does find her but they are knocked unconscious by a massive wave, Tess wakes up in a hospital bed on a small Greek Island, the doctor there had taken care of them, Tess discovers that the figurehead they had brought up had washed up on the shore, she extracted a coded letter that was written by Jesus Christ from the hollow wood.
Tess brings Reilly up to a secluded cliff where she explains what she found, suddenly, Vance, who had survived aswell, confronted them desperately, he took Tess hostage at knifepoint and took the letter, as he tried to escape Reilly pursued him, Vance climbed the cliffs to escape, but loses his footing.
Vance looses his grip on the precious papers, and he insanely throws himself off after them and into the rocks below, destroying the secret forever.
