Dead Aim

Book Review by: Kitty

Original Author: Iris Johansen
Alex Graham is a photojournalist that would take any risk to get the pictures and story she wanted.  In Dead Aim she proves
her strength and adventurous nature by fighting terrorists and anyone else that would get in her way.
Involved in taking photos of a deadly flood caused by a collapsed dam, in Colorado, Alex could not help becoming a part of her story. Such a situation does not make a good objective piece of journalism and she is constantly reminded of this by her editor. However, in spite of this caution by her editor, Alex cannot keep from being a part of the rescue crew and with shovel in hand she helps to dig out the survivors of this devastating flood.
While taking photos of the collapsed dam, Alex was on its summit where she overheard two men talking to each other about their part in the collapse of the dam.  She is bound and determined to find out who they are and why they caused this disaster.  In the process of doing so she, herself, is targeted for destruction. An attempt is made on her life. Even with her adventurous nature this attempt to kill her was closer than she would like.  At this point, John Logan enters her life.
John Logan is a billionaire financier and has his own reasons for wanting to keep her alive and safe.  In the process of doing so Logan hires a CIA hit man by the name of Judd Morgan who is instructed to stick close to her and keep her out of trouble.  Of course, Alex resents being told what to do and when to do it.  Judd is a handsome man with a commanding presence and a mysterious past.  The kind of man Alex would normally be fascinated by but, in her present mood she was angry at being told what to do and at being constantly followed and watched.  At first Morgan is not pleased with his assignment either. However, he soon becomes more than fond of Alex and would do anything for her. This includes dying for her if he had to and almost does.
This is an interesting spy novel involving terrorism, adventure, espionage and last but not least, the love interest. A nice rainy day read.
