Anywhere and everywhere one will find people who agree or disagree on the existence of the Devil. 52% of the residents across the major cities in India not only believe in the existence of God, but also in the unseen, scary ghosts.Survey conducted by one of the leading Indian news daily came up with some very astonishing facts about the power and the range of the existence of Evil in the universe. A 50% majority has felt, seen, experienced or contacted the dead. Heaven and hell exist parallel. One-third of the respondents who believe they exist have possibly communicated with them through psychics. One may term it mere superstition but it’s a fact. The percentage of women believers is slightly higher than the men.Another amazing discovery! Out of a total of 100, 39% of the people, who believe in the super naturalistic ghosts, are the post-graduates, 32% are graduates and 29% were the basic school goers. This means that the more educated segment trusts in them while less knowledge declines the belief. 63% of the illiterates gave meaningless conclusions. Another aspect of the
supernatural is Astrology and Numerology. 38% people in these sciences, though most of them were of the opinion that numerologists and astrologists are consulted occasionally. In the land of Karma, where 62% of the people believe in God also, either know/or have faith in, re-birth or re-incarnation. This means that human beings come back to life after death, as humans again. Scientists and experts mention that if a being dies an unnatural death his soul struggles very hard for re-birth, so as to be able to fulfill his/her past life’s purpose. The soul is very powerful, so once he attains a new human body, he/she tries its best to achieve its aims. The process of death and re-birth will go on till he/she attains the ultimate goal. Hence, re-births are many, though only 8% say there is only one re-birth. Other beliefs in this regard are that the deeds of a person’s life determine where one goes after death. Some need spiritual gurus to understand the message being conveyed by either of the above. Today’s jazzy youth is skeptical about this topic though the elders agree with their existence. Significant differences in beliefs exist across cities, cultures, society, regions and various economic strata’s.
