Ten years after the fall of Troy gives the brave Ulysses (Odysseus) is far from his family and his kingdom Ithaca, while his wife Penelope with all kinds of tricks to try to prevent any of his suitors interested marry, they and the unfounded idea Odysseus was dead.
In these circumstances Mentor (close friend of Ulysses) helps raise the prince Penelope Telemachus son of Ulysses.
Telemachus, desperately wanted to expel the suitors of his mother, but had no confidence or expertise to fight them. One of the suitors, Antinous, planned to assassinate the young prince, thus eliminating the only obstacle in his plan to dominate the palace.
 
The suitors that Odysseus did not know was still alive. The beautiful nymph Calypso, in love with him, kept him prisoner in that island, Ogygia. Ulysses wanted to return with his wife and child, but had no way of escape.
While the gods of Mount Olympus debated the fate of Odysseus, the goddess Athena decided to help Telemachus. Disguised as a friend of the father of Odysseus, leads the prince to Pylos and Sparta, where kings and Melenao Nestor, Odysseus' companions during the war, he reported that his father is still alive and trapped on the island of Calypso. Telemachus plans to return to his home in Ithaca, but Antinous and the other suitors were waiting in an ambush which they planned to kill him to get to the port.

Zeus, god of gods, determined to send Hermes to rescue Odysseus. Envoy to persuade the nymph Calypso to allow Odysseus build a boat and leave the island of Ogygia. Thus Odysseus is free.
On his way to Ithaca, is wrecked off the coast of Phaeacia. There is rescued by the young Nausicaa, who falls in love with him and leads to the palace of his father, King Alcino. During the party held in honor, Odysseus reveals his true identity and tells his hosts the vicissitudes through which it has been through during the Trojan War and the misadventures that have prevented him from returning to Ithaca.

Odysseus relates how, after leaving Troy, he and his companions sailed to the region of the Cyclops. They were captured by the Cyclops Polyphemus, son of the god Poseidon. Deceiving, Odysseus the giant and got drunk, fell asleep, stuck a stick in the eye and fled with his family. Then visited the god Aeolus, who were given a fair wind to get home and offered a bottle full of stormy winds. The crew, led by curiosity, opened the bottle and a hurricane the Aeolian dragged. Odysseus and his men landed in the country then the Laestrygonians, an island inhabited by cannibals giant devoured several of them.
