General information Title: "Starsky & Hutch". Directed by: Todd Phillips. Main actors: Ben Stiller- David Starsky. Owen Wilson- Ken Hutchinson. Snoop Dogg - Huggy Bear. Vince Vaughn- Reese Feldman. Film Company - Warner Bros. Pictures. Dimension Films. Runtime: 101 min. Introduction My expectation from the film was that it will be well done for example the act quality will be high also good humorous film with punch-lines and funny acting. I also expected for a bit of nostalgia since I used to watch the Starsky and hutch TV show. The film takes place in Bay City, "sometime during the '70s," when David Starsky - police officer who spends his entire day chasing small-time crooks is paired up with a new partner, the reckless Ken "Hutch" Hutchinson. Starsky and Hutch don't get along at first- a lot of uncomfortable tension and also uncomfortable situations makes them a real good partners. Theme and Genre The film genre is mostly comedy however it's also action and crime movie. The general message is anti-drugs also the way of living in the 70's. The Plot Starsky and Hutch are partners: One is uptight and by-the-book, he runs through a dozen partners in two years. The other steals from bookies and hangs out with low-lifes. Bad-guy Reese Feldman is importing cocaine that fools drug-sniffing dogs. One of his murder victims washes up on shore about the time Hutch's informants tells him that a big cocaine deal would happen soon. The movie takes us to the investigation with starsky and hutch. The plot is well written and does make sense also it is easy enough to follow and interesting because of the twists and turns, the plot is somehow predictable. Characters The main characters are: David Starsky (Starsky), Ken Hutchinson(Hutch), Huggy Bear and Reese Feldman. Starsky and Hutch are the "good guys" each one has an advantage and disadvantage for instance Starsky is a crime fighter- loves his job and respect it, but he is not that good at it ("catching the bad guys"), Hutch is easy going person, he is also a very friendly person perhaps too friendly but he is a good guy and friend ( also very funny). Huggy bear is the "informer" he is "the inside man" he has connections with the bad guys but he use the information he gets to help his friends Starsky and Hutch. Reese Feldman, the bad guy, he is a drug dealer, and he found a way to change the structure of the cocaine to "undetectable pure cocaine". Actors *The actor who plays Starsky is Ben Stiller. Ben Stiller has played in many comic and funny movies: "Dodgeball", "Meet the parents", "Meet the fockers", "Madagascar" and many more movies and TV shows. In my opinion he is a very good and funny actor. The actor who plays Hutch is Owen Wilson.* Owen Wilson has played in many comic and funny movies: "Cars", "The big bounce", "I spy", "behind enemy lines"(was one of his serious movies- action) and many more movies.
What I especially like about him is the way that he speaks. *The actor who plays Rees is Vince Vaughn. Vince Vaughn has played in many comic and funny movies: "Dodgeball", "Old school", "wedding crashers", "Black ball" and many more movies. Quality actor, funny and very liked by me. *All of the actors, in my opinion, are playing very well: eg, interesting and, most of all, funny. *A scene I thought was acted very well was when Starsky came to Huggy bear with Hutch for meeting and the whole situation went out of control. I found that scene amusing and that's way I think that this scene is good, in addition to the comic part of that scene the act is very good and it convince me that this is really happening. The Director Todd Phillips -Attended NYU Film School, but dropped out before graduation to promote his first documentary film. He directed number of movies: "Old School", "Bittersweet Motel", "Road Trip", "Fart House" and "Hated". On this film the director, In my opinion, had done a fantastic job. The pace of the movie was sometimes slow but that is what that make it such a funny movie, In my opinion. The film is well pictured and is very nice to look at; there are very nice views in this film. Sound track I liked the soundtrack because it took me to those times (when I wasn’t here) and showed me what it was like in the 70's. The soundtrack is good but I prefer other kind of music. General Review I enjoyed from the film and I had a lot of fun watching it. The good point of the film were, in my opinion, the funny comic part of it and was also the plot that was very interesting. In my opinion the bad points of the film is that it rated PG-13 for drug content, language and some violence. I would recommend it to my family and friends because it's a very good movie. I haven’t seen a film that I could compare to this for its unique humor. RatingI give this film 8 out of 10: means that its very good and I enjoy it but there are better films then this, in my opinion.
