Private Lives is a comedy by Noel Coward.
The story is about a divorced couple, Elyot and Amanda,
who meet again while honeymooning at Deauville after their marriage to new partners. Accidentally booked in adjoining suites at the same hotel, they realize their powerful attraction to each other still exists. They run off to Paris together.
Their deserted spouses catch up with them just as their quarrels are on the verge of lovers violence, but the following morning they sneak off again, leaving their partners in disarray.
Apparently, whatever Elyot and Amanda may do to each other, they always prefer each other's company. The dialogues evoke some of the best Sir Noel Coward is known for.
Private Lives has also been successfully produced in Broadway few times.
