The Trojan War, recreated in the Homeric poems, was a consequence of the war alliance of several kings of Greece against
the city of Troy and their allies from other kingdoms of Asia Minor. Troy was located in the northwest of modern Turkey. A bit of history was linked mainland Greece from the Neolithic, with the islands of the Aegean and the eastern coast of Asia Minor. The numerous natural harbors along the Greek coast and the proximity of multiple islands gave rise to a uniform maritime civilization. This cultural homogeneity did not induce, however, political unity. Mountain ranges and deep valleys the peninsula divided into small units of economic and political dimension of not more than one city and its environs. The Ionian tribe, settled in Attica, a region that is Athens and the Cyclades islands and Thessaly Aeolians settled in the northeast Peloponnese. The Bronze Age gave rise to two cultures in the Aegean. One, called Minoan, Minos being the generic name for the Cretan king, focused on the island of Crete. The other, called Hellas, flourished in mainland Greece, particularly the south, in the Peloponnese. Cretan culture dominated the Mediterranean until 1500 BC. Refugees Achaean, Ionian, Aeolian them gradually Dorians invaded the coasts of Asia Minor, integrating the region economically and politically, in Greece. Later (750-550 BC) Greek demographic expansion led to the colonization of the eastern Black Sea coast, Marseille in France and Sicily and southern Italy, which became known in Latin as "Magna Graecia". Legend has it that the wedding of the Greek hero Peleus with the sea
goddess, Thetis, was not invited Eris the goddess picky. Eris placed at the site to host the wedding reception, a golden apple with an inscription that read, "To the best and most
beautiful among the goddesses. Rea the sister and wife of Zeus, queen of the goddess, protector of marriage and of considerable strength to consider; Athena (Athena), daughter of Zeus, mighty warrior of great wisdom and skill in fine arts, and, finally, Aphrodite, the goddess of passion, born of the red foam of the sea, was considered a daughter of Zeus. The goddesses, displaying his great powers of seduction, immediately set to the task of bribing a beautiful Trojan prince, in whose hands was so transcendent decision for future prestige of the Olympics. Hera offered him reign over Asia and Europe, the martial Athena promised military skill and reputation, and Aphrodite suggested he give it to Helen, the most beautiful woman in the Aegean, since once desired and intended by all kings, princes, warriors and heroes of the time. Paris, probably tired of the pastoral herding of sheep, chose, without hesitation, the supply of Aphrodite. Few days later, Paris sailed to Greece in company with the Trojan hero Aeneas. Their final destination was Sparta, where Helen lived with her husband Menelaus, king of Sparta and brother of Agamemnon, king of Mycenae. He stayed in the house of Menelaus, and when this had to work to resolve routine matters of government, kidnapped Helen. For greater evils, past the many suitors of Helen, to its link with Menelaus, considered the abduction as a betrayal of their honor, as when they were aspiring for the beautiful is sworn to defend the honor to be elected as husband, by the beautiful Helen, "the long-haired". Agamemnon, the most powerful of the Greek kings, assumed command of the expedition to rescue her sister and punishment of the Trojans. . This was the origin of the Trojan War and the outcome of a dispute curious women for a golden apple "The Golden Apple". Apparently the imagination of primitive peoples did not go much beyond the apples as a cause of disputes between gods and humans. Both, the forbidden fruit of the Old Testament, as the Apple of Discord and the apple of Snow White should be enough examples to ban the cultivation of some fruit, but has not been generated yet, among humans, due respect for the delicate apples apparently favorite trick of the gods, despite the grim background of mythologies and tales take us back. I tend to think that the story of Adam and Eve's apple was brought from the remote Greek culture as a symbol of disgrace for the people and the snake, the embodiment of excluded angel from heaven, replaced the goddess Eris, only divinity excluded from wedding feast of Peleus and Thetis who, incidentally, were the parents of the Homeric hero Achilles "the winged feet and short-lived," one of the authors of the web A & D. The Iliad, is an accurate portrayal of the relationship of power with the simple and heroic mortals and displays then as necessary and intuited rules that humans should observe to avoid falling from grace or win the favor of powerful gods. Although other aspects relates to the famous Trojan War, the book includes many beautiful and familiar stories but with little connection and styles. Stories like Iphigenia, daughter of Agamemnon, who was nearly sacrificed to appease the anger of the gods. The Ulysses, who at first feigned madness to avoid joining the war with the Trojans.
