Evolutionary Witchcraft

Book Review by: InkStainedFingers

Original Author: T.Thorn Coyle
Evolutionary Witchcraft is an introduction to the practice of Feri
magic, as developed by Victor and Cora Anderson.
While Feri
practitioners are generally trained intensely and inducted through a
rite of initiation, T. Thorn Coyle has crafted a book that covers the
basic elements of the Feri tradition, making them accessible for all
who desire to deepen their knowledge. Rather than crafting another
basic “how to” book of Witchcraft, or a book of spells, Coyle invites
us to deepen our understanding of ourselves and the elements around us,
the elements that form the basis of magical practice. The book’s
chapters are well organized, moving from the basics of casting,
grounding and soul alignment through each element of nature that
comprises the Feri pentacle. Coyle draws on her experiences in a
variety of spiritual practices to present a unique vision of modern
witchcraft. Specific exercises, dances, and meditations are designed to
bring the practitioner deeper into self-empowerment, while drawing on
the energies of the earth and Spirit for guidance, strength, and
inspiration. The exercises can be practiced on an individual basis or
with groups. Evolutionary Witchcraft will appeal to people who are
interested in, or following, earth-based spiritual practices. It is
enlightening without being dogmatic. The material is presented in a
straightforward fashion that is easy to understand; yet Coyle also
writes with a refreshing, poetic voice. Her powerful presence can be
felt throughout the book, providing an excellent example of the
personal mastery that can be achieved through engaging in regular Feri
practice.
